Our seniors keep on saying that we are the participants of the marriage and the funeral processions as long as we live. Our society has been running in this way since the human civilization. This is our culture which has been transferring from generations to generations. We are taught to help needy ones and it´s our responsibility as well.
A few months
back, when I was in Dharan, my neighboring uncle died. As a neighbor of him, it was our
responsibility to go for his funeral procession, so I went. He was from Gurung
community. So, his funeral ceremony had conducted according to the Buddhist
religion.
There were
around 500 people for his funeral procession. Meanwhile, the funeral ceremony
was taking place, I was gossiping with my known friends and seniors standing
near the funeral happening place. At once one of the seniors expressed his
feelings looking around the place saying no one would be alive after 50 years
who came here for the funeral procession. I think he expressed his feelings in
a joking way but that pinched my heart a lot and still does it. I thought that
whatever he said that was absolutely right which made me nervous some extent at
that time.
Even if we
know that we have to die tomorrow, we can´t live our life as we wish. When we
die we will not take anything with us but we have to keep on doing hard work
every day fighting with so many unexpected problems. Whatever the situations,
we never lose our hope. We know that we are not here forever but we want to
make it special as much as we live. I think this is called life.
