Saphal Diaries

Yashok is small in size yet it is very beautiful. It is in the west of Panchthar district. It is the second famous place after Phidim in Panchthar.  Recently, it was connected with roads. If you wanna go Yashok, there are 4 ways to get; one from Ranke, another from Phidim, next one from Mauwa and last one from Tehrathum. There are two internationally renown holly places namly Kusayak and Kumayak. It is considered as one of the sacred places in Nepal as Pathivara Mandir in Taplejung. It is also the center of many vdcs. It is also famous for Trishala Mela. It happens in the interval of every three years periods for three days. At this time, many progarams are organized. People not only come here from inside Nepal but also people come from all over the world at that time and they especially, worship Kusayak and Kumabayak at that time. This picture was taken when I was small hiring a photographer by my mother. It reminds me my childhood and my mother. I would like to thank my mother so much. They are my grandfather and grandmother. They are known as Mukhiya and Mukheni in our village. My grandfather's name is Kul  Bdr. Rai and my grandmother's name is Ruplakshi Rai.  It is with my sisters and vanjis in Prabina sister's house in Bajogara, Dharan on the occasion of Soltini's marriage ceremony.   There is me between my father and mother in my village.My mother name is Jag Maya Rai and my father's name is Laxmi Prasad Rai. There is a huge mango tree  behind us and you can see its flowers. It reminds me my mother a lot.  He is my father. He is so cool and handsome. यो देखिएको गाउँ खाल्डे हो। यो याशोक  गाबिसको वडा न ९ मा पर्छ। यो गाउँमा बिशेष गरि केही छेत्रीहरू बसेपनी यहाँ चाम्लिङ  राइहरूको बहुल्याता रहेको छ। यो पारी अङ्नाबाट खिचिएको तस्बिर  हो। यहाँका मनिसहरू धेरै शिक्षित छन्। यहाँ बिशेष गरेर धान, मकै, गहु,कोदो, बदाम् र जुन्यालो रम्रोसँग  उत्पादन हुने गर्दछ। अझ यसलाई याशोकको   अन्नको भन्डार पनि भनिन्छ। यो तस्बिरमा देखिएको गाडीको  बाटो केही बर्ष अगाडि बनाइएको  हो। हाम्रो गाउँ खाल्डे भएको हुनाले हमिलाइ वर परको मानिसहरूले खल्डेलि भनेर बोलाउछन्। यसमा हामीलाई गर्ब लाग्दछ। हामी संसारको जहाँ जहाँ भए पनि हामी  जन्मेको हुर्केको गाउलाई धेरै माया गर्छौ।

The house where my grandfather and my grandmother used to live. They were known as 'Mukhiya'. we are still called by the same title. My grandfather  was a very talented person at that time. Everybody used to respect him. Actually, they made this house. It was not old one. It was made destroying old house because older one  had  become fragile due to the earthquake of 2045. They gave birth to 11 children in the same house. My father was the sixth son of their family. My mother had also put her first foot in the same house when they got married. Though we migrated from here, we have our land hare. We didn't sell our land and we will never sell our land. It is our original property. It means a lot for us.

तीनकुनेको सम्झनाहरूलाई प्रतिनिधित्व यो फोटोले गर्छ। भाई हिमालसँग एकदमै रमाइलो भएको थियो। तस्बिरले पनि धेरै कुरा आँफै बोल्दो रहेछ। यो फोटोले सधैं तेही तिनकुनेको याद्हरूलाई झझल्को दिरहने छ। तिनकुनेमा हामीहरू पहिले एउटा नेवारकोमा बस्ने गर्थियौ। उस्को नाम हामीहरूले जेमस प्रधान रखिदिएको थियौ। उ धेरैनै मुर्ख टाईप को मान्छे थियो। उस्ले भनेको भएन भने लडाईं खेल्न अगाडि बढीहाल्ने। तर उ र उस्को परिवार चाँही साह्रै फोहोरी थिए। तैपनि हामीसँग चाँही त्यस्तो नराम्रो केही गरेन।  फेरी जेमस प्रधानकोबाट हामी अर्को छिमेकी घरमा सर्यौ। घरधनी चाँही बाहुन जातको थियो। हामिले उस्को नाम् चाँही चर्ल्स शोभरज राखीदियको थियौ किनभने उस्को दुइओटा श्रीमतीहरू थिए। उ चाँही एक्दमै हेन्ड्सम थियो। लुगा पनि उस्ले एक्दमै मिलाएर लगाउने गर्थ्यो। तर उ आफ्नै घरमा अशुरक्षित थियो किनभने उस्ले मुनितलाको होटेल गर्ने दिदिको भाईको झन्डै फरुव खाको थियो। ती दिनहरू धेरै रमाइला थिए। म सधैं ती दिनहरूलाई मिस गरिरहेने छू।
